Shown at milan design week 2011, the ‘avus’ lounge chair is the latest addition to the plank collection created by german
designer konstantin grcic. ‘Avus’ is a leather club chair that pays tribute to the characteristic qualities of this classic furniture type:
great comfort, attention to detail, fine materials and refined elegance. however, the use of modern materials processed with
cutting-edge technology from the automotive and sports industry makes ‘avus’ a radical reinterpretation of the lounge classic.
avus is a highly contemporary product in terms of its design and technology. the rigid base is produced as a twin-sheet moulded shell,
reinforced with a polyurethane foam core. the stiffness of the base is contrasted by a flexible upper shell made of a single sheet
of the same material. the leather upholstery is zipped into the upper shell in one piece, using a technology used in the production
of high end luggage.
